Haven’t been climbing in years — and we mostly climbed indoors back when we did climb — but these are among my favorite things to read, because the lessons are much more broadly applicable. Most general takeaway: the decisions you make after an incident begins are absolutely critical, and it’s worth practicing whatever those things might be, in whatever domain you’re working in. More particular climbing takeaway that is also actually a very generalizable takeaway: don’t do risky shit alone. Even if it seems routine to you. Especially if it seems routine to you.

For the light and/or endless direction-changing wind we seem to get at Topsail in September, this stretchy Neso thing with built-in sandbag anchors seems more useful and reliable than a Shibumi. Blasphemy, I know.

Here is one of many things I am confused about w/r/t Coppola’s Rumble Fish: Dude clearly salivated obsessively over every single shot in the entire movie, so it must have been an intentional choice to leave this wrinkled jack and tire stowage instruction sticker inside the trunk of Patti’s mom’s car. But why? #coppola #RumbleFish
